People are rushing along the promenade, planning routes, checking in at cafes, and the location services on their phones are working without a day off. And then the iPhone starts draining in an hour — and the owner is already mentally saying goodbye to ten thousand roubles for a new battery.

Stop. Let's not panic.

Most often the battery has nothing to do with it at all. It's just that some app has latched onto location services and is guzzling charge like a holidaymaker guzzling shashlik: fast, with relish and without a backward glance. Maps, delivery apps, weather services — they all like to hang around in the background and constantly pull data about your location.

The check takes thirty seconds. Open Control Centre and look carefully at the top of the screen. If you see a location arrow that is filled in and won't go away — there's your thief. Or go to Settings → Privacy → Location Services and find the app that shamelessly shows as "Always".

Most often it's enough to switch it to "While Using" or turn off access altogether. In a couple of hours you'll notice for yourself: the phone once again makes it to the evening, and the battery you were already thinking of taking in for repair quietly holds its usual hours.

This is perhaps one of the most pleasant scenarios: the problem is solved, money is saved, and the repair shop is still there for when something genuinely more serious comes up. Free advice that saves both your wallet and our schedule in season.
